About the Role
Aveanna Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and experienced Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide professional, goal-oriented center-based therapy services to pediatric clients. Our Pediatric Day Health Care Centers are bright, fun places designed especially for children with complex medical needs. We provide a safe, caring environment for children up to age eight to receive skilled nursing care and therapies while playing and interacting with their peers.

Position Details:

  • Rate: Starting at $35/hour
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday, daytime only; no nights and no weekends!

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide occupational therapy services as prescribed by the physician.
  • Conduct comprehensive written evaluations to define therapy needs, goals, and expected outcomes.
  • Develop and implement a written Plan of Care, coordinating with nursing staff and other healthcare team members to ensure continuous care.
  • Administer appropriate therapy techniques according to identified goals and treatment programs.
  • Maintain effective communication between staff, healthcare team members, and families.
  • Ensure patient safety through diligent administration of care.
  • Serve as a resource consultant for clinical staff.
  • Provide written evaluations and progress updates to physicians and Aveanna as required.
  • Participate in in-services and case conferences as necessary.
  • Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and Home Health Aides (HHAs) when required.

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current and unrestricted license to practice as an Occupational Therapist in the state of Florida.
  • Certification in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation, and compliance with care policies and procedures.

Preferences:

  • One year of recent experience as an Occupational Therapist in an acute care setting.
  • Experience working with pediatric populations is preferred.

  • Ability to adhere to confidentiality standards and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Effective problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • Outstanding organizational and communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods of walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and twisting.
  • Capability to reposition patients and move equipment without assistance.
  • Strong visual and hearing acuity.
  • Ability to respond physically and mentally to emergency situations.

Environment:

  • Ability to function in a variety of center environments, which may involve exposure to allergens and other conditions.
  • Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases.
