Current Opportunity: The Director of Purchasing and Distribution will be a strategic leader responsible for planning, organizing, directing, controlling and overseeing the division’s procurement, supply chain management, and distribution operations. The Director of Purchasing and Distribution will define and communicate a clear, compelling vision for the department that effectively ties into the mission,  vision, and values of Aveanna Maintain a cost effective and efficient materials process to ensure that necessary supplies are available when needed for all delivery & materials in support of meeting patient outcomes/experience, operational and fiscal objectives as they relate to supply chain strategy and optimization and workforce planning. Through collaboration and direct accountability with onsite and offsite logistics and materials management staff, develop a system-wide approach for end-to-end supply chain integration that lowers the total cost of distribution and inventory management functions while improving customer service and support to all Aveanna caregivers and patients. Responsible for effective quarterly system-wide inventories. The Director will lead a team, manage vendor relationships, and drive continuous improvement in purchasing and distribution practices.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and implement purchasing and distribution strategies that align with the company's vision and goals.
  • Partner with divisional and corporate leadership to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and cost savings
  • Lead respective teams, modeling an engaged work climate, and inspiring individuals and teams to demonstrate high standard professionalism, while achieving outstanding performance. Foster staff growth and development through various available or approved resources.
  • Promote and support staff participation in applying continuous improvement to existing processes to enhance the utilization of people and materials, based on expanded use of metrics through analytics and information technology.  Hold operational team members accountable for maintaining appropriate manpower & schedules, quality improvement measures within their areas of responsibility.

Procurement Management:

  • Oversee the procurement of goods and services, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality standards.
  • Oversees Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) relationship and manages compliance according to GPO performance.
  • Assist departments/divisions in the implementation of cost saving opportunities and measuring contract performance and realization of savings.
  • Manages the sourcing activities within assigned contract portfolios to meet or exceed the needs of the organization as well as of the patient care process from a financial and operational perspective.
  • Ensures activities for assigned contract portfolios are integrated with quality outcomes, reducing variation and support continuous improvement and patient safety and comply with Aveanna legal, compliance and financial requirements.
  • Works closely with the clinical, operational and field teams and sets the strategy and direction with business owners to drive cost savings performance best practice through the understanding of fundamental strategic sourcing elements including, but not limited to, cost, quality, variation, and outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers and work with the Aveanna Group Purchasing Organization partner to negotiate contracts to secure favorable terms.
  • Monitor market trends and adjust purchasing strategies as needed.
  • Serve as the point of contact for distribution functions/issues related to invoicing, pricing and the drop ship model
  • Ensure all equipment, and product receiving and disposition functions across Aveana Medical Solutions are in place, use and support best accounting practices, including FDA product recall actions, for product removal /return across the division. 
  • Conducts vendor business reviews to ensure pricing compliance, thresholds and other contract related obligations are met.

Distribution Oversight:

  • Partner with distribution partner to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and cost savings.  Ensure distributor is operating as per the contract.
  • Manage distribution operations to ensure timely and accurate delivery of products.
  • Optimize logistics and warehousing processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Maintain Company fleet of vehicles
  • Implement best practices in inventory management to minimize stockouts and excess inventory.
  • Research and execute new sites for expansion or relocation
  • Responsible for facilities management for all AMS sites of operation

Budget and Cost Control:

  • Develop and manage the budget for purchasing and distribution activities.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement measures to reduce expenses while maintaining quality
  • Compliance and Risk Management:
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and standards in purchasing and distribution.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to procurement and distribution operations.
  • Responsible for maintaining SOX compliance with purchasing team
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating supply chain policies and procedures

Performance Measurement:

  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for purchasing and distribution activities
  • Analyze performance data and report on progress to senior management.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other departments, including finance, operations, and sales, to support organizational objectives and resolve issues.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration across the company.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in procurement, supply chain management, or distribution, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale purchasing and distribution operations.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes, supply chain management, and logistics.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams effectively.
