Community Relations Specialist

Position Overview
The Community Relations Specialist plays a critical role in driving referral growth, supporting outreach and marketing initiatives, and building strong community partnerships within an assigned territory. As an outside sales professional, this individual serves as a key ambassador for Aveanna, educating families, caregivers, and community stakeholders—particularly Regional Center staff—on the services available through our programs.

This role is field-based, requiring 50% or more of working time to be spent traveling within the territory and engaging with referral sources and community partners.

Assigned Territory Includes:

  • Regional Center of the East Bay

  • Golden Gate Regional Center

  • San Andreas Regional Center


Key Responsibilities

  • Build, strengthen, and maintain strategic relationships with Regional Center staff, families, and other community stakeholders.

  • Represent Aveanna at offsite meetings, in-services, community events, expos, and resource fairs to generate referrals and enhance brand awareness.

  • Coordinate planning and logistics for company representation at events; including budgeting, forecasting, and on-site execution (may include overnight travel).

  • Develop and present educational sessions and in-services to Regional Center staff and other target audiences.

  • Create and distribute informational and promotional materials tailored to various community events and referral sources.

  • Develop and execute community relations strategies to grow market share and brand presence in the region.

  • Act as a liaison between Aveanna, Regional Centers, and other community-based organizations to facilitate communication and collaboration.

  • Address and resolve inquiries, complaints, or sensitive issues from referral sources, clients, and families in a timely and professional manner.

  • Assist in referral management, including timely follow-up and coordination with families and referral partners.

  • Gather and track feedback from community stakeholders to inform outreach strategies and improve service delivery.

  • Identify opportunities for program expansion or new service lines based on community needs and referral patterns.


Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal abilities.

  • Empathetic, professional, and culturally sensitive approach to community engagement.

  • Ability to collaborate across departments and levels within the organization.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.

  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Psychology, or related field.

  • Experience working in community-based organizations or social services.

  • Familiarity with California Regional Center systems.

  • Bilingual skills in Spanish, Vietnamese, or other languages identified as a community need.

Physical & Travel Requirements

  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.

  • Reliable transportation with current registration, insurance, and state compliance (Aveanna does not provide vehicles).

  • Ability to travel frequently, including possible overnight stays.

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 35 lbs.

  • Prolonged periods of walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and stair climbing.

  • Adequate visual and hearing acuity.

  • Must be comfortable working in diverse environments, which may include exposure to allergens or other varying conditions.


Work Environment

This role functions across a variety of community settings and may involve exposure to external environmental elements, including allergens and crowded venues.
