Position Overview

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant will perform accurate and timely close responsibilities, including journal entries, analysis, and account reconciliations. The role will support finance and internal departments by providing ad hoc analysis. This individual will be required to provide input and participate in various projects as assigned.

Requirements

Essential Job Functions

  • Record monthly journal entries in Workday for accruals, reclassifications, and allocations
  • Accrue invoices correctly by interacting with accounts payable and other corporate departments.
  • Perform variance analyses and account reconciliations in a format acceptable to and consumable by external auditors.
  • Resolve any reconciling items identified in account reconciliations.
  • Manage responsibilities to meet deadlines.
  • Seek opportunities to prevent reconciling items and to identify and standardize processes.
  • Document standardized processes in areas of responsibility for SOX purposes.
  • Respond to audit inquiries promptly.
  • Ensure areas of accounting responsibility are recorded, reconciled, and documented in compliance with GAAP.
  • Take personal responsibility for compliance with internal controls under their responsibility as documented in connection with SOX procedures.
  • Proactively seek out and offer up ideas for efficiencies and business practice improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in public or private accounting
  • Strong excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, advanced formulas, and formatting large data sets
  • Strong organizational, analytical, critical thinking, problem solving, and customer service skills
  • Ability to communicate status, manage, and meet competing deadlines
  • Effective professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong desire to work in a team environment.
  • Comfortable communicating directly with the external audit team
  • Attention to detail and accuracy of work performed
  • Stong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP) and the accrual basis of accounting

Preferences

  • Experience reconciling in Blackline
  • Experience in Workday Financial ERP system
  • GL accounting background or desire to learn if coming straight from public accounting

Environment
