Authorization Specialist
(Remote – Florida Region | Eastern Time Zone)
Join Aveanna Healthcare as an Authorization Specialist, where you'll work collaboratively with our clinical and administrative teams, patients, and insurance carriers to ensure timely insurance authorizations and optimal reimbursement for the care we provide.
This position supports our Florida operations and works Eastern Standard/Eastern Time business hours.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, Standard Business Hours (Eastern Time)
Compensation: $18.00–$22.00 per hour
Location: Remote (Supporting Florida Market)
Essential Job Functions
Manage the patient insurance authorization process for services requested by the clinical care team.
Initiate communication with patients' insurance carriers to obtain required pre-certifications and authorizations.
Proactively work with insurance carriers to ensure all required documentation is received in a timely manner.
Communicate changes in insurance reimbursement practices and authorization requirements to the clinical team.
Ensure all authorization submissions are complete and accurate.
Maintain ongoing communication with treating clinicians throughout the authorization process and provide timely status updates.
Educate patients regarding their insurance coverage and available payment options.
Notify location leadership of issues that may result in lapses in authorization or interruptions in patient care.
Support multiple Florida locations while maintaining exceptional customer service and meeting established turnaround times.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 2 years of related experience.
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to work Eastern Time business hours while supporting the Florida market.
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

Prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting, and climbing stairs.
Visual and hearing acuity required.
Strong sense of touch and smell.
Work Environment
Remote position supporting the Florida region during Eastern Time business hours.
Must be able to effectively perform duties in a home office environment with reliable internet service.
May occasionally encounter various environmental conditions while supporting agency operations.
