JOB OVERVIEW
The People Services Specialist provides support for a variety of human resources (“HR”) operational tasks and is primarily responsible for developing and overseeing processes to ensure employees are effectively hired and onboarded in compliance with Aveanna policies, and federal, state, and local laws and regulations. This role partners with the field and other internal departments to complete pre-hire and post hire screenings; responds to a variety of inquiries from employees and managers; oversees external vendor relationships; conducts training and prepares communications to support HR initiatives; and completes other projects and assignments to support compliance, hiring, training, onboarding, terminations, or other HR functions as needed.
Requirements
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide coaching and guidance to employees and managers, respond to inquiries and resolve various HR-related issues.
- Responsible for full cycle review and processing of background checks, including preparation of Committee reviews and management of background check vendor, and training and assisting with background-check related issues.
- Responsible for I-9 support and oversight of the processing and completion of the E-Verify process.
- Manages vendors and works directly with outsourced external and internal partners to process unemployment claims and verifications of employment.
- Identifies opportunities to streamline processes to improve the delivery of programs and services.
- Provides backup and assists with responding to inquiries and managing the employee ticketing system.
- Assists in preparing information related to audits, legal inquiries, or governmental reporting as needed.
- Supports People Services programs and initiatives including orientation, enforcement of and compliance with policies and procedures, mergers and acquisitions, and other projects as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- BS/BA degree or equivalent training plus 0 – 2 years of Human Resources experience.
- General knowledge of functional areas of Human Resources/People Services and/or Payroll.
- Demonstrates strong verbal and written communications skills and has the ability to coordinate various activities in a constantly changing environment.
- Detail oriented, organized, and able to multi-task to meet deadlines and coordinate various processes.
- Demonstrates a customer service orientation and responds professionally via email and phone.
- Demonstrates the ability to work as a strong, supportive team player who can maintain a positive demeanor at all times.
- Requires a working knowledge of HR administration, processes, and policies.
- Knowledge of HR systems including ADP, Lawson, Workday or PeopleSoft.
- Works independently to source information and completes research. Compiles and organizes data for review and action.
- Demonstrates strong MS Office skills, including Word and Excel.
Preferred
- SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or PHR or SPHR credential preferred
- Healthcare experience a plus
