Position Overview

The Operations Director is a key leader responsible for driving the overall success, growth, and operational excellence of an Aveanna branch location. This position provides strategic leadership across administrative, operational, clinical, and business functions, partnering with cross-functional teams to achieve exceptional patient care outcomes, employee engagement, financial performance, and sustainable business growth.

As the leader of the branch team, the Operations Director creates a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence. This is an opportunity for a motivated leader to make a meaningful impact by developing high-performing teams, strengthening relationships with patients and families, supporting field staff, and building strong partnerships within the community and referral network.

The Operations Director serves as a trusted leader, mentor, and advocate for the branch and its team. They bring strong business acumen, communication skills, and operational expertise to a dynamic, high-volume environment. By effectively balancing people, performance, and business priorities, the Operations Director ensures the branch consistently delivers high-quality service while meeting or exceeding organizational goals.

The Operations Director is also responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable Federal and State regulations governing home care agencies and for promoting consistent adoption of Aveanna’s processes, training standards, and Core Values.

Essential Job Functions

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing branch team focused on exceptional service, quality, and results.

  • Interview and select talented, qualified employees with an emphasis on building a strong and engaged workforce.

  • Establish clear expectations, performance goals, and accountability measures for team members.

  • Ensure annual employee evaluations are completed and meaningful performance and development goals are established and achieved.

  • Oversee employee development initiatives and ensure completion of orientation, in-service training, continuing education, and other required training programs.

  • Meet regularly with supervisors to review performance, address opportunities, and identify strategies for continued improvement.

  • Participate in area and regional leadership meetings and initiatives as requested.

  • Foster a positive, collaborative culture that reflects Aveanna’s Core Values.

Client & Community Relations

  • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with patients, families, caregivers, referral sources, and community partners.

  • Collaborate with branch and area leadership to ensure effective and mutually beneficial introductions with new patients, families, and caregivers.

  • Ensure completion of required patient home visits, assessments, and follow-up activities.

  • Partner closely with the Business Development team to establish and execute strategic, growth-oriented objectives.

  • Monitor and respond to client satisfaction results, identifying opportunities to improve the patient and family experience.

  • Serve as a visible advocate for patients, families, employees, and the branch within the community.

Business & Operational Leadership

  • Develop and execute branch growth strategies designed to increase market presence, strengthen referral relationships, and achieve business objectives.

  • Use strong business acumen to interpret financial statements, activity reports, productivity metrics, and other performance data.

  • Monitor key performance indicators to evaluate productivity, goal achievement, and overall branch performance.

  • Identify opportunities for cost mitigation, operational efficiencies, and process improvement.

  • Establish and maintain effective operational processes to support consistent, high-quality service delivery.

  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of required reports and business deliverables.

  • Closely monitor billing and collection activities, ensuring effective processes are in place to support timely reimbursement and financial performance.

  • Collaborate with clinical, operations, and business development leadership to ensure branch goals are aligned and consistently achieved.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Federal and State regulations, company policies, and industry standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum of an Associate degree or equivalent work experience in a related field.

  • 2–3 years of management or leadership experience.

  • Ability to successfully satisfy all applicable state requirements, including background checks and any required work authorization.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, build relationships, and drive accountability.

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university preferred.

  • Healthcare experience preferred.

  • Pediatric home care experience a plus.

  • Experience with business development, financial performance, or operational management a plus.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to speak, write, read, and understand English.

  • Must be able to travel as needed.

  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds.

  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, kneel, reach, and twist for varying periods.

  • Must be able to sit and climb stairs.

  • Must possess adequate visual and hearing acuity.

  • Must have a strong sense of smell and touch.

Work Environment

Must be able to function effectively in a variety of environments, which may include exposure to allergens and other conditions commonly associated with home and community-based care.
